“Objectification of the Feminine”
“This exhibition is a beautiful dialogue between two contemporary African artists (Nuno Prazeres and Carlos Lopes), in a brilliant attempt to engage their audience in a discussion with the society in which we live, bringing to the forefront this confrontation with the patriarchal ideological framework, whether inherited or constructed, which imprisons and disciplines, with the sole purpose of maintaining order and power. Both artists impel us to analyze the problem of imprisonment and the imposition of such a patriarchal perspective through the artistic language of their works, which requires a critical deconstruction of these ideas and which then gives rise to the formation of our own discourse.”
